Our trip to Catalina Island started out early with a 6:30 shuttle to the ferry terminal. The ferry was a high speed catamaran and took an hour over some lightly rough seas. We passed the Queen Mary pulling out of the harbor Catalina is a very picturesque island and there are many tours of various ilk. The best way to handle this is to research them thoroughly beforehand. Not knowing what was best, 6 of us decided to stiff the tour bus scene and rent a 6 place golfcart. We made our own private excursion around the island. We went to the Wrigley memorial, botanical gardens, and rode around some of the areas. Later dined in the Plaza, fed some seagulls and vegged out for a while waiting for the return ferry
