Day 12 - 02 May 2003

Williams, AZ to Needles, CA - 157 miles

Leave Williams, Arizona for Needles, California.
Early AM, Dave arose to deal with the overheating situation on his car. The diagnosis was that the thermostat was stuck shut and had to be removed. Doing this only took a short amount of time and Dave was ready at the 8AM call.

On the other hand, another glitch came up. Paul started his car and it stalled, flooding the engine and fouling the plugs. Paul went over to the local NAPA to get new ones and Bob and Frank removed and cleaned the old ones. Paul returned with only 3, but they were installed with some old ones and everything worked We departed around 10AM and headed toward the 'Left coast"

Arizona is a 'greener' type desert than New Mexico

Some scenery pics along the way

    Oh- Hum!!

    Different camera angle

Seligman, AZ, where Route66 is a way of life

    Pics around town

Interview with Mr. Delgadillo, Founder of the Route 66 Historical Association

    At the Road Kill Cafe...
Refreshments were on Dave & Nadine!

    Back on the road...
Some cars pass us going into Seligman for the festival
Late Lunch at Mr. D'z in Kingman

    Out of Arizona....
Back on the road by 2PM, we entered California on I-40 at 4PM on Friday, 2 May after traveling 2650 miles. The first oddity was the inspection station across the highway that wanted to inspect any fruit you had with you.
    Tonight we stay in Needles..

I don't think we ever led the pack, but here's one pic from Paul J. that makes it look like it
The Pres is one fine road car!

    This means we're in California

Arrived in Needles, late afternoon. First thing to hit you in the face is ...gasoline..$2.47 + up. Some minor maintenance on the cars. Bob & Paul go to the local NAPA for supplies. The weather is cool and windy.
Dinner at a locally recommended restaurant. The cars were a big hit in the parking lot
