Spent about ten years with one family in S. SF. Sold to a Professor of American Literature at Berkeley in about 1974. He drove it on and off for about 11 years, then parked it after getting hit in a Safeway parking lot. Light damage to left front fender and headlight ring. I bought the car in 2001 with the "1986" yellow registration sticker still on the plate. Engine, auto trans, Diff and brakes refurbed and installed. Body repaired winter 01/02, final sea mist green paint May 2002. Needs to have interior cleaned up, but runs strong and looks sharp. Doc

Original Avanti red with tan interior. 4th owner of this original car with less than 30,000 miles. Purcased in Santee CA in November of 2001. At 7000 feet elevation in the mountains of Southern California, the Paxton supercharger still puts out 5 psi boost. I plan upgrades that Avanti fans will recognize such as the new Flowmaster based exhaust system I had installed.

1963 Avanti R-2 titled as 1964. Sold in North Carolina from Honeycut Motors in 1964. Owned since 1967. Factory built with R-2, automatic transmission, Avanti red with red interior, power steering, AM radio, non-power windows, tinted glass. First Avanti to run the quarter mile in under 12 seconds. Current record holding at 11.68 @ 116 mph on 13 pounds of boost with factory intake, manifolds, and R-2 cam.

63 R1 Avanti 3430 for sale. The car was purchased new by her husbands family who drove it very little. It was last registered in 1969 and parked in the garage since. The engine was rebuilt by her late husband who was an auto machinist and the body was repainted at the same time. The engine was never installed, has 0 miles on it. There is nothing missing on this one. The interior is all most like new including carpet and is all original. The exterior is white with turquoise interior. It as always been stored in a garage. This Avanti is highly documented with window sticker, dealer paperwork, warranty, etc., etc. Originally sold in San Diego CA, it moved to Arizona, to Las Vegas, back to California in Simi Valley, and then to me.

The factory Studebaker R4 intake manifold and the Halibrands came from Allan Songer in California. The engine is bored .90 over to 304.5 and has a 6 quart oil pan. It has the 288 degree camshaft and the two correct carter 4 barrell AFB carbs. I will shoot some more pictures and get them to you when I have done some more work under the hood if you would like.

57K miles total, left in a garage from 1966-1996 after having 46K hard miles - not preped for storage. Restored 1996-1998 by Bruce Ford. R1, automatic, PS, PB, & Factory Air. I call her Ruby-Ruby. This car sports gorgous red paint (not Avanti), red cloth seats, and ventage Crager 72 spoke wheels. R3672 was originally a white R2 with 4-speed and 3.31 TT, sold new in Columbia SC to a music professor at Juilliard, with me since 1988. During its early career, it had the supercharger removed and AC mounted. The 64 front nose, and the presence of fire extinguisher powder in the old front seat pad, leads me to believe the first owner found the R2 a bit much. I had Myer's do it up to "R-two-and-a-half" with R3 valves, heads, cam and headers, R3 bonnet and front suspension, big sway bars. It retains the ex-Pontiac 600CFM AFB that was used to step it down from R2, and it works.

It was originally Avanti Red. It belonged to the son of the Studebaker dealer , here in Tulsa. I purchased the car from him. It has, to my knowledge, never been on ebay. I have owned the car for 15 years. So the car is a 2 owner. The previous owner told me his father gave he and his twin brother each, a Avanti upon high school graduation.(I saw the price on mine on the original title ($4955). He also stated that the car was special ordered from the factory with the AC stuff in the passenger compartment. I have no way of verifying that.

You are more than likely correct about the headlights, but the AC stuff in the passenger compartment is old, real old. (but it still works). I added all the air-conditioning stuff under the hood, compressor, dryer, condensor and all. (Just converted it to r134)

I believe this to be the 3rd engine in the car, and I cannot find a serial number on it. ( I know, upper left front of the block). The alternator mounts like other R2 Avantis also
