------------------------------------------------------ #1065 - the fan mounting was wobbling around and was making a funny noise. This is an R2.. ------------------------------------------------------ You can do the whole thing in a few hours with the shroud in place. One thing I do to make it easier is to cut the heads of two bolts to line the heavy pulley and fan assembly. Now would be a good time to check the fan clutch too. ------------------------------------------------------ I had to replace the water pump on my '63 R2 as well. In the course of talking to folks, I learned that the Studebaker V8 water pumps are notorious for failing, particularly on R2's because of the side pull from the supercharger. I actually ordered a spare water pump, and I make sure everything I need to swap in the new one is in the car when I travel any distance. The fan shroud on mine has been cut so it can lift straight up and out. Getting the fan off is a lot easier with it removed. I also put a piece of thick cardboard over the inside of the radiator while I was doing the job. It definitely saved me from dinging the radiator fins on several occasions. ------------------------------------------------------
