By the way I understand your description, your hood is okay, but one or both of your fenders are off. You didn't say what the model is. If it is a C/K, I have found that you have to start with the rear quarters, go to the doors and then the front fenders to get them correct. Of course the trunk and hood come into play also. How is the alignment down the sides of your car - both horizontally and vertically? Gary L. -------------- At the factory the front clip was installed as one piece. Infact some factory photos show the cars coming down to meet the frames with the hoods installed and held up by a fixture to allow the front clip to go on. There are a ton of adjustment combinations for the hood to body, one is interesting in that you shim the front of the front fender to frame attachement point. In dong that shim it actually bows out the wheel well curve and moves to top of the front fender at the cowl inward. Shimming up front does not affect the front to rear but moves the fenders to their maximum flex. Just loosening the three bolts at the cowl and pushing in will not make the correction, but loosening the apron to cowl retainers and then adjusting the height of the front shims or the distance between radiator support to fender might move your fender into the position you want. Also consider that you do not need to make large adjustments as anything done up front will magnify as it runs back along the length of the fornt fender. On my 47 convertible slightly shimming out the lower reatiners where they meet the radiator support moved the distance from the hood to fender in dramatically. Bondobil ------------- In view of Bondo's excellent quote above, what I do is install the hood first and make sure that the gap to the cowl is even on both sides. then I install the fenders one at a time maintaining even spacing/alignment of both sides to the hood/cowl. I leave the bolts loose in the front (to the frame and radiator mount so that it can be slid to either side as required. While I doing this, the hood release mechanism is not installed. Once everything is aligned, install the hood release so that alignment is maintained. The key is the hood installation must be first. Jetman ---------
