July 2005 The easiest and "cleanest" way to get what you want is to put a Fram G22A Fuel Filter "in front" of the pump, so the pump is sucking fuel through that filter. A G22A Fram (or equivalent) has threads that will allow you to screw the filter's outlet directly into the inlet of 'most any postwar Studebaker fuel pump. Use teflon tape around the threads to insure no leakage. The INLET side of that filter is a tube over which you slip and secure the fuel hose from the frame pipe going back to the tank. Be sure to secure the hose with a clamp so it doesn't draw air into the system. I have had such an arrangement on my '64 Daytona hardtop over 20 years. That filters the fuel before it enters the pump, as you desire. Carry extras with you because that filter does not have a lot of surface area. If your system is dirty, it can quickly plug up a G22A.
