April 2003- ------------------------------- Bleeding/removing air from brake lines / Have a container of compatable fluid near the master cylinder (MC). Top off the MC. 1)Apply pressure to the line. 2)Go to the right rear brake cylinder/caliper and open the valve to allow dirty fluid to drain. 3)Close the valve, wait 30 seconds for the brake springs to retract the shoes 4) Repeat until no more dirty fluid or air is released. Check MC occasionally to top off fluid. The rotation is right rear, left rear, right front, left front New Master cylinder Bench bleed - to remove all air from unit before installation. 1) mount in vise with protective binding. 2) Install bleeder hoses and route back into reservoir. 3) pump fluid thru 5-6 cycles slowly and until not more air bubbles come from hoses. 4) Install on vehicle, connect lines and follow bleeding instructions ------------ Russell "Speed Bleeders" are available for the disk brake cars. This makes bleeding a one-man(woman) job. Part number is 639590 for the front, and 639540 for the rear. Available from speed shops, Summit, Jegs, PAW, etc. NAPA also sells them, but I don't know their part number. The fronts are 3/8 x 24, the rears are 1/4 x 28. On the front, to use the ball you have to file the tip flat. Bob Ziff
