possible gold paint solution to the gold center woes on 53-55 hubcaps ( and the S in the grille on a 55) The paint is duplicolor gold anodize paint that I found in an auto parts store and it works. Its NOT quite the same as original but it sure ain't bad and it goes on and stays because they have adhesion additives for painting on unsanded steel or chrome I mentioned at the time maybe misting a red coat under it (it comes in yellow- blue and red plus a cast aluminum color for an underbase if needed( but DON"T do that because the red is VERY strong and it'll just look dark orange, I also redid the S in the grille of my 55 because even though I just had it gold plated the guy screwed it up so I had nuttin to lose It looks awesome! The more paint you put on- the darker it seems to get i tried to scratch it with my fingernails and it wouldn't scratch off and I waxed it- none came off Another useI see would be to fake gold iridite would be to shoot a light coat over aluminum cast coat because its a light yellow when its just a mist coat Dcat on the newsgroup will be posting pics of my S and my wires hubcap since i can't post look for them they were shot in shade so the S doesnt look reflective even though it is- but the hubcap color picture is almost exactly what the paint looks like Hope it helps someone
