The serial number on my 87 HO coupe is 89. It was built in South Bend. Yours is 86. It was 3 cars ahead on mine on the production line. It stands to reason that it has the same master cylinder. This is what I learned when I replaced my master cylinder. The replacement master cylinder comes from a 1967 Ford Fairlane with power disk brakes and a 6.4 liter (390 ci) engine. Autozone carries one replacement. M1642 reman $40.99. NAPA carries three variations on the theme. TS101379 reman $29.99. UP 36248 new $89.99. UP495 rebuild kit $26.49. I chose the Autozone reman. It has a stainless sleeve in the barrel. The NAPA reman is bored but not sleeved. The new NAPA cylinder specified a different size for the rear brake line fittings. I wasn't about to rebuild the cylinder that failed. The Autozone reman has the same casting number as the original in my car. The fittings on my lines were a straight fit. The cylinder came with a set of plastic fittings and hoses that made the bench bleed so complete that I didn't have to bleed the brakes. The new cylinder showed me how good my brakes were on the test stops. PCKing 87 HO Coupe
