Studeman - July 2011 Glass install Install the NEW windshield gasket with the seam at the TOP of the window. Install the stainless moulding in the weatherstrip- Be SURE the little "L" on the stainless channel is fully seated in the slot of the weatherstrip. Run a small bead (1/4") of 3M Fast 'n Firm seam sealer- around the pinchweld where the window sits. Let this stand for at least 20 minutes before trying to install the glass. Place a small cord/electrical wire (slippery) around the weatherstrip in the "slot" for the pinchweld. Lubricate it with liquid dishwashing soap. make the 2 ends CROSS at the TOP center of the glass- continue to run them 12" or so past where they cross- and tape them in place to hold them. Liberally apply a coat of dishwashing liquid to the bead of Seam Sealer- and to the inside part of the weatherstrip. Lay the windshield against the pinchweld- and seam sealer- Try to center the windshield in the opening. DO NOT try to hook the lip of the weatherstrip onto the pinchweld.-just lay it against it. With 2-people outside (one on each end)- and one person inside the car (to pull the cord/wire).. the outside folks should should just hold steady pressure against the glass- DO NOT bounce, on the glass- just put weight on it- and try to spread it over a large area in the center of the glass. The inside person should should work the cord-so that the weatherstrip flap pulls over the pinchweld. work evenly- pulling the cords at the same time- to the corners- once one corner is over- be sure to do the opposite corner before proceding. The windshield should just pull into the opening. If it doesn't sit well in areas- carefully push on the glass in those areas- be careful NOT to concentrate pressure in any small area- or you can crack the glass...
