What is the worst thing about a Hawk. Yes the hood hinges. So I did something about it. I have seen a lot of versions of this idea. With this version the emphasis was on access. This is a two stage lift. The rear of the hood is secured with some conventional trunk release catches operated by a cable release next to the hand brake handle. The front of the hood has a locking mechanism that locks it in both up and down positions. The front of the hood can be lifted about 4 inches by pulling a lever under the bumper. when the front is lifted the lock mechanism locks it in the up position. It is also able to tilt forward. To finish I will add a couple of struts to hold it in the up position.
