Speedometer cable - (jackv@studentambassadors.org) Jack Vines Took the cable loose from the speedo (double jointed fingers tool required)and pulled it through the firewall so as to get a better look at it. At first, the cable would not pull out of the housing. I placed a small funnel on top of the cable held vertically and shot "Lock-Eze" down the housing. This is a graphite/solvent spray compound I have found good for lots of things. The solvent dissolves whatever gum may be present and then evaporates, leaving the graphite behind as a lubricant. I jacked up the rear wheels and ran the car in gear. The cable turned and distributed the graphite down the housing. The cable pulled free (By the way, the cable has a collar on the top end which would prevent it from being removed from the transmission end.)and I cleaned it and reinstalled it.
