I have a 63 Power shift transmission in which the pressure regulator body has a chunk popped out at the end of travel of one of the pistons, about the size of a quarter. The transmission was working when I took it out to replace the flex plate, but I really should do something about this, as it look pretty important. Anyone have or know where I can find a pressure regulator body that will fit? Failing that, can the hole be repaired? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks, Mike -------------------- Mike: I wouldn't try to repair the pressure regulator body, but you can use the body of the pressure regulator from any Borg-Warner Flightomatic that Studebaker used in the 1960s; but only use the body portion. The springs and (probably) the pistons are different, but it sounds like you can re-use the pistons and springfrom your powershift. I've rebuilt several of those transmissions and know for a fact that the bodies of the pressure regulator are the same as in Stude flightomatic, from a V8 or six cylinder engine. The springs, again are different, so make sure you use your existing ones. Also, a very similar transmission was used by Ford and Jaguar through the 1970s..(Borg Warner supplied the same basic transmission to a number of companies).. Ford called it the FMX; I've had both apart, and while some things are differnent, the basic transmission is the same. You might try comparing the pressure regulator from your powershift to one from a Ford FMX transmission. Lew ---------------------- Lew, Thanks for the excellent advice. I found a regulator body from a Flightomatic and it was indeed identical. I used the springs and pistons from the old one and it's now back together. You made my day. Mike ----------------- Mike: Glad you were able to get your transmission fixed..... I ran into something similar to what you did on a 62 lark once...... only the regulator body didn't break.... the clip that hold the springs in just came loose.... Never saw that happen to a transmission before or since.' We took the transmission out of the car, expecting the worst, but just had to bend the spring clip slightly, re-install it, and then put the transmission back in..... It's still going strong, 6 or 7 years later... Lew --------------------
