Subject: high revving of the engine with the BW automatic in park. ---> My reference to no high reving in park was only meant to apply to the '50-'55 BW with the lock-up torque converter. I have experienced and know of problems with cars that had been reved up very high in park. I know some say they do it and haven't had a problem. Maybe they are lucky or have a different idea of what high reving is. I just wouldn't take the chance. It is not necessary. Regardless of the AT, I wouldn't recommend high rev's on an engine with no oil pressure at idle. Gary L. I have reved the engine in my '55 but wont do it again. I didn't hurt anything but it sounded like the tranny was trying to go in every gear at the same time. Scarrry. Yep, revving the DG three band automatic while in park will result in a "clunk" sound that is the converter going into lock up mode. I would suspect that this could cause damage since it was intended to lock up under a load...
