Distributor / Breaker Plate Studebaker On the topic of distributors, I found a HUGE difference was made after I disassembled the base breaker plate (the one with the ball bearings) and cleaned out the dried crus (old lubricant) and applied new lubricant. This procedure is not described in the shop manual, but is not too difficult. As I recall you have to pry the rivetted tabs aside (rotate on the rivets) and the assembly comes apart easily. As I said, HUGE difference in the way the car runs, and actually got rid of most of the 'pinging' I was experiencing. Bob Shapton bshapton@ican.net August 2001
