Standard R-series oil pan and con rods, not the R3. I've been asked about the engine number in the past and I simply do not recall there being an engine number stamped on the block. Chassis number was something like 2678 or 2378 AFAIR. Any records I had on the car seem not to have made my move from Mich here to NM back in the late 70's. Oddly enough, I still have a record of the serial numbers of the Avanti's I serviced, but can find no record of the serial number of my own at that time. Sold it to a Henry Schlichting up in southeastern Wisconsin. If I think of the town I'll pass it along. He was a member of SDC for a few years back around that time. The car had a repaint in the original grey down at the factory shortly before I sold it. It was in quite decent shape except for rear frame rust. A complete R4 head, carb, air cleaner, and linkage assembly for the car was sold separately to somebody else. Cheers. -- wf.
