The Orr Cadillac sign has been seen from the highway coming into to Springfield since 1957. For well over half a decade, the Orr family has sold the classic American made Cadillac from their showroom on Mill Street. "The 1959 Caddy, to the El Dorado with the famous fins, one of the first front wheel drive cars, a 1967 El Dorado, to the Escalade which made Cadillac cool again," explained third generation Cadillac salesman Sandy Orr. "My grandfather came down from Adams and operated several dealerships, Nash, Studebaker and then finally in 1940 just before World War II he was awarded the Cadillac franchise." With such a rich history with the car company, Orr along with many others, were shocked to find out that the cash strapped General Motors was pulling its franchises out of small markets, eliminating 1,300 of the 6,000 dealers it had heading into bankruptcy. That means Orr is out in Western Massachusetts.
