This just happens to be for my father’s Land Cruiser. He was manager of the Checkerboard Feed Store in Dallas (Ralston Purina Company of St. Louis) at the time. As you can see, it was sold AFTER the ‘53s came out and was “loaded”. It was one of the dealer demos. You’ll notice the “necessities” on this car— “Make ready” for $26—nearly $200 in 2006 money. That musta been SOOOME job!! “telecurbs”—curb feelers. What self-respecting guy would NOT have them in 1952? Particularly if they were free!! “sun visor”—an ad in Life magazine said “a car without a sun visor is like a hat without a brim” Gotta have it!! 8-tube Radio for $95—AM only, of course and equal to over $700 today “Filterzone”—This was 3 inch wide dark green translucent piece of plastic at the top of the windshield. Why you needed this when you had a sun visor is beyond me! Cigar lighter—I thot they were standad on the LC. Hmmmmm Notice he also got a $15 “bird dog” fee (New car prospect) Dunno whether this was for the truck he bought for the business or for the ’53 Champion coupe one of the salesmen bought. I have only one picture of this car but it’s in black and white and frankly has my DA haircut displayed more than the car, so will leave it out. But if you’ve seen ONE blue LC, you’ve seen ‘em all.
