Vehicle Description
1963 Studebaker Avanti R1
This is an all
original round headlight California Car. It is fully loaded with
no rust and excellent mechanics. It is an original
maroon/burgandy color with an excellent running 289 Studebaker engine
and 4 barrel carb. Everything under the hood is completely stock
and original in appearance including the chrome distributor and
plug wire shielding. It also has the original chrome air filter
and valve covers. The A/C unit is the original studebaker
compressor with tag ID and blows ice cold. All the controlls
work. You turn on the radio and the antenna comes up in the
rear. All the gages work. All the push pull controls work
and all the overhead switches work. The only thing not working is
the power windows and door locks. (No power). The body is
excellent with a no wreck history. The hood, doors and trunk all
shut perfectly. There is no rust under this car and also no
leaks. It can sit for a month without a drop of anything under
it. The paint is nice and shiney but has lifted away from the
fiberglass in three spots. Under gas cap area like most of them,
(pretty minor spots). The rear window tint needs to be
replaced. Some other minor detail work is needed in spots.
It starts right up and drives
great. I have found no problems on the road. It has 4 nice
michelin tires and a posi traction rear end. I have just changed
the oil, filter and plugs. Although I don't reccomend driving
(new/old) cars home I think this one ought to be fine. In 1962
this 289 engine set a land speed record of 171 MPH in 60.8 seconds and
the quarter mile at 107 MPH. This one runs great. The
pictures do not indicate how solid and comfortable it is or how good
the black leather seats feel but the quality is there. For an
unrestored car it is in great shape. It need some little stuff
and detail work but it is all still available and pretty cheap.
It comes with a 63 parts and work shop book. Plus todays 2007
parts supply book. I have a low reserve and it will sell. For
more information call Dave at 239-947-6074. Glockauto is not the
owner. Emails will be instructed to call Dave. Thanks from
Bill and Dave.
