THE ORIGINS OF A MASTERPIECE:

1. DESIGNED BY RAYMOND LOEWY
-America's foremost industrial designer
-He was commissioned to build a car of the future
-No single one of his work better exemplifies Loewy's mastery than the Avanti automobile
-In his autobiography: Never leave well enough alone, Mr. Loewy explained his approach to 
automotive design

2. MICHAEL E. KELLY, PRESIDENT/CEO 1986:
"Where excellence is concerned, there can be no compromise. We are clearly committed to 
handcrafting the finest motorcar in all the world...Avanti-A legacy of excellence born ahead
 of it's time, has continued to outpace the industry.

3. In the age of mass production where the word "Quality" takes a backseat to robotic produced 
cars, it's comforting to know that every Avanti automobile is made by hand. It is made by workers 
who still have a love affair with their craft and their car. Each car takes 45 days to build.

4. DRIVETRAIN:
-New Chevrolet High output 305 200hp
-Avanti exhaust system adds 50 more hp
-Mileage; Highway EPA-29, City EPA 18
-GM designed the engine
-Avanti designed and manufactured the exhaust system
-Brakes: 11" GM ventilated disc front and back gas filled Koni shocks
-Frame: Double wishbone four heel independent suspension, with coil springs all around 
precision "A" arm suspension with front/rear stabilizer bars
-Transmission: 4 speed GM overdrive (same as used in Jaguar and Aston Martin)

5. EXTERIOR BODY:
-Fiberglass
a. Four hour intensive baking at 140 degrees to bring out impurities from the fiberglass
b. Hand sanding (110 man hours) 5 seperate times
c. Body is again subjected to baking
d. One coat of high built primer applied then baked again
e. Body is again block sanded
f. A second primer coat applied and baked
g. A four block sanding takes place
h. A wet block sanding takes place
i. Sealer now applied
j. 3 coats of color (Deltron by Ditzler)
k. 3 coats of clear
l. Body is inspected and buffed to insure high gloss

6. INTERIOR:
a. Dashboard: Burlwood imported from Europe's Carpathian Mountains (Central Europe). Wood
 insets and panels are polished and matched by Avanti craftsmen for seamless perfection
b. Seats by Recaro
1. More than 350 square yards of leather are used for seat, dash, headliner and door panels

2. Total of 8-10 hides are used for the interior
3. 16 manhours for leather craftsmen to handstich the entire interior.
c. Instrument Panel: Specially designed by Raymond Loewy (cock-pit like) displayed at eye level
 white on black for daylight. High visibility red night light reading.
d. Mahogany wood steering wheel
