Vehicle Description Up for auction is a 1963 Studebaker R2 (supercharged) Avanti. It is an "early series" vehicle, as it was built in late December of 1962. It has the original engine and four speed transmission. Soon after I purchased the Avanti in 1990, I stripped the paint down to the fiberglass and spent hours block sanding the body to make it as straight as possible. It was painted the correct color and was clear coated. Front and rear bumpers were rechromed as well. The underside of the car is sound and the "hog troughs" are solid. The underside was not restored, as it was meant to be driven on the road. The previous owner said that the car had been sitting in his repair shop for about eight years after the owner could not pay for the work performed on the car. I mention this because the odometer shows only 26K miles. I am certain it is not 126K miles because of its condition, but is probably more the what it shows. It has a stainless steel exhaust system made by Ron Hall when he was still with us.There are no oil leaks. There is an intermittent miss in the engine; it is either electrical or in the head. Although the clutch is new, it chatters a bit on take off. It is a fun car to drive, and you certainly will not see your twin on every corner with this Avanti. It has all the aspects that make this Avanti more desireable: low serial number, 4-speed and supercharger. I have set the reserve at a realistic amount, and if you have any questions, feel free to contact me at 513-503-4300. Thanks and good luck....
