Vehicle Description THE SURVIVOR 1964 studebaker avanti R-1 R5275. 65k original miles- factory options include: automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, twin traction, front disc brakes, dual exhaust, allstate tires & battery and very rare wire wheel covers. this is a top notch #2 condition car. it is an unrestored original. the car is in gorgeous cosmetic and excellent mechanical condition. fit and finish are superb. the engine runs like a clock and is very strong. the car was shown a few times 6 yrs ago and won first place at several regional shows (trophies included). the original owner (an elderly man) sold the car in 1999. i bought it from the second owner (a renowned stude collector) in 2000. this car has been impeccably maintained, never in an accident, always garaged and is extremely reliable. only 800 avantis were produced in 1964. far less are still on the road and only a handful have remained in this condition. i was extremely lucky to own this beauty and it pains me greatly to have to sell it. in the past 6yrs, the following work has been done: rebuilt: carburetor, transmission, brakes- (booster, dual master cylinder, calipers, rotors, drums, shoes, pads, hoses) and replaced upper/lower control arm bushings, exhaust manifold, muffler and pipes, valve stem seals, engine mounts, tires, water pump, fan clutch, windshield wiper motor, carpet, plus various wires/hoses/gaskets... about half the avanti red paint is original- it is still glossy and smooth with only a few small flaws. the areas that have been resprayed over the years are nearly flawless. nearly all body and interior parts are original factory installed all mechanical parts are original or n.o.s. i have ALL paperwork for the car including the build sheet, original invoice, owners manual and 42 years of repair/parts receipts. the ONLY flaws on the car that i am aware of: a/c blows very cold, but has a very very slow leak. one end of the upholestry piping on the drivers seat is exposed. original paint has some minor scratches, chips and oxidation. a small amount of paint is flaking off the speedometer face.
