64V2488 Rehabilitation

17-20 August 2000


Damper & Hub removed. Found no woodruff key in crank. Egad!!!.


Cylinders show clean with crosshatch still evident..

Removed Timing cover, good gears...

Both sides clean internally...


Block was painted with POR-15 over the glyptol..


Pan removed, good bottom end..

Rear section, oil filter base ok..


Water manifold, new Avanti pump, valley cover get new paint..


Damper & Pulleys reconditioned

The front damper and hub were removed and surprise (not really) but there was no woodruff key between the crank and the hub. I thought it had dropped on the floor, but there was nothing. A new one fit tight, so if there was one there, it would have stayed put... The pan was pulled and revealed the bottom end was pristine, very tight looking, but no pal nuts on the con rod bolts(?!)

The peripheral parts are starting to get pretty'd up in preparation for the re-assembly. Heads were completed on Monday 21 Aug. All new gaskets & seals will be re-installed
