Continuing on door and fender
After removing all the chrome, the paint and under coatings were sanded off to the metal. The door had a patch panel on the lower 6 inches, riveted on and wrapped around the sides and bottom edge. The patch was covered with bondo and contoured to match the curve of the rear fender. This was evident and no surprise when starting out on this. The surprise was that when the rivets were removed and the panel taken off, was that there was no significant rust warranting a patch panel. Only a small hole in the forward bottom edge.....
Soooooo?, What's wrong with the door.....that needs this steel plate to cover it up?? hmmm,

Another funny thing was the leading edge of the door has, what looks like JB-weld used as a filler
Without the patch, the curve of the door matches the rear fender perfectly. Only minor sheet metal work will be required to finish these panels. Some minor brazing on the rear fender forward edge and either lead or plastic filler. The metal is pretty thin, so probably not lead on the sides anyway.
