Today was a mix of things/ The lower pillar was finished with a bit of backtracking. Had to remove the 'captive bolt', since the weld didn't hold when I tried to hang the door. So, I just reached under the door to put a wrench on the nut to tighten the lower hinge center bolt. The door closed, but not to my liking. The lower hinge on the door was missing a screw. It was broken off in the door plate. This allowed movement while the door was opening and created looseness. So, the lower hinge was removed from the door and the missing screw into the door support was drilled out and replaced. Once done, the door was closed with me inside the car, then wedged to a correct position and the lower screws tightened. Voila!
The front door seal was now closer to the inner door flange, but still not perfect. I'll have to add a 1/4" rubber band to either the door or the weatherstrip.
The rocker panel didn't match the line of the door, so it's removed for a better fit. Also noticed the sill close to the door pillar wasn't at the right angle, to allow water runoff, so it will have to be rectified.
The door closes perfectly though and this was with a minumum of fuss, so I'm happy for todays progress.
That was till I got to the rear fender. While removing it, found that it's welded to the car. It can't be removed without damaging it. So it will stay on while I do the spring bushings and any further body work on the fender.
